The 7th Edition of IPL went back to eight team format with Pune Warriors withdrawing from the tournamnet and was held from 16 April 2014 to 1 June 2014. The opening ceremony was held in the United Arab emirates on 15 April 2014. The Mumbai Indians team were the defending champions but Kolkata Knight Riders spectacular performance saw them won the tournament, defeating Kings XI Punjab by 3 wickets. Manish Pandey was declared the man of the match in the final. The average attendance for the tournament Stood around 31000 per match.
The Competition :

Kolkata Knight Rider won the toss and elected to field first. Kings XI Punjab scored 199/4 off 20 overs thanks to Wridhimaan Saha’s 115. Kolkata Knight Riders chased the total successfully with the help of superb innings of 94 by Manish pandey with three balls to spare.
The Awards :
This was Knight Riders second IPL title making them the second team after Chennai Super Kings to win the tournament. Manish Pandey was awarded man of the match for his 94 .
Robin Uthappa ,With 660 runs in the tournament, finished as the leading run-scorer and won the Orange Cap. Glenn Maxwell won the maximum sixes award for his 36 sixes in 16 matches. Maxwell was also most valuable player of the season. Axar Patel got the emerging player of the tournament award.Tweet
The Conclusion :
Kings XI Punjab played well throughout the tournament but was lastly undone in the final by the solid run chase Kolkata team. Kolkata has the worst possible start of the tournament with only two wins in the first seven matches but they picked up the steam in the second half of the tournament and only stopped after winning the tournament.
